Amulet Pharmaceuticals, Inc

Amulet Pharmaceuticals, Inc discovers and develops novel therapeutics using our NORTECH™ technology to address known liabilities of current therapies serving large unmet markets. Our lead program (AMU-301) treats diabetic gastroparesis an unmet complication of diabetes affecting over 3 million women in the United States.

Gastroparesis is delayed gastric emptying in the absence of mechanical obstruction

  • AMU-301 is designed to be a safe and effective therapy
  • AMU-301 has the same polymeric backbone as Cholestyramine, first approved in the 1970’s
  • AMU-301 uses nitric oxide as the active ingredient, a well understood molecule
  • AMU-301 can possibly prevent progression of the disease or reverse the disease

Since the early 1990’s, nitric oxide has become solidly established in the scientific literature as the key molecule in gastroparesis and many other gastrointestinal disorders. Amulet is the first Company to commercialize a safe topical delivery of nitric oxide to the stomach and intestines to treat a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders, beginning with gastroparesis.

Amulet Pharmaceuticals, Inc is an early stage biotechnology company developing clinically differentiated new chemical entities for unmet medical needs serving large, rapidly growing markets. Amulet minimizes development risk, shortens development time and improves drug safety through the combination of our NORTECH™ technology and FDA approved commercially successful therapeutics.

  • By integrating proprietary nitric oxide donors into FDA approved, commercially successful therapeutics with known safety and efficacy liabilities, these known liabilities are directly addressed and an NCE (New Chemical Entity) is created with a differentiated clinical advantage.

Our first application of the technology is the unmet medical need of gastroparesis, a gastrointestinal indication, where there is no effective treatment for up to 3 Million sufferers in the US. The goal is to complete a Phase 2 Human Proof of Concept Clinical study on our lead compound AMU-301 by the first half of 2011. Our strong early stage pipeline is in Gastrointestinal diseases (GI) and Osteoarthritis (Pain).
